Terms of Use

These terms set the conditions for using Springfield Residents Directory. By using the service, you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Nature of the Service

Springfield Residents Directory is a privately operated reference. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and historical directory collections relevant to Springfield, Oregon. It does not host government records and is unaffiliated with any public office, court, library, archive, or records custodian.

2. Acceptable Use Rules

Use this service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or information reached through it, to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make a decision the FCRA regulates
  • Systematically scrape, copy, or republish site content
  • Disrupt the service, its operation, or its security

3. No Consumer Reports

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither its content nor results from a linked tool are consumer reports, and they may not be used for any purpose governed by the FCRA.

4. Third-Party Destinations

Government portals and outside services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own policies and terms. We do not control their content, availability, charges, or information practices.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any type. We do not promise that a page is complete or current, or that an outside portal will be available or return a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including a decision based on a record reached through it.

7. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold the site operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

8. Site Materials

Original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page or quoting a short attributed excerpt is permitted, but republishing full pages or systematically copying content is not.

9. Revisions to Terms

We may revise these terms by posting a new version here. Continued use after publication accepts the revised terms.

10. Access Restrictions

We may limit or block access without notice when a user violates these terms or misuses the service.

11. Oregon Law

Oregon law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Oregon Public Records Law, ORS chapter 192, controls access to qualifying public records held by Springfield, Lane County, and other Oregon public bodies; it does not make this private reference their custodian.

12. Severability

If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective.

13. Questions
